Sustainability is a key part of our corporate strategy both at the Group and in Nigeria. Our sustainable development strategy, The 2030 Plan, remains our internal roadmap of how we intend to play our own part in addressing our planet's biggest issues. As a leader in the construction materials industry, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to make a positive difference.

Our Approach to Sustainability

At Lafarge Africa, we are committed to creating shared value with the society through innovative solutions and the net positive sustainability footprint. As a supplier of essential construction materials (cement, aggregates, concrete) and services, we will play our part to contribute to building a stronger Nigeria, safely, ethically and sustainably.

We are proud of our listing as the only indigenous company in the building materials and construction sector in Nigeria to have a holistic and strategic plan for addressing impacts as acknowledged in The Collective Social Investment Report: Nigeria 2014, the latest of the report series on companies' sustainability approach. We have a history of decades of building our business on the tenets of sustainable development. We started this journey in a more structured way with our Sustainability Ambitions 2020, launched in 2012 by legacy Lafarge. Focusing on a set of 10 ambitions, we set out on a journey of driving sustainability within our value chain: Road Transport safety, Education and local job creation, Gender and diversity, Alternative fuels and biomass, Stakeholder engagement, Affordable housing, Dust control, Visual impact plan, Ethics and governance, Contractor Safety Management.

Today as a member of the merged entity of the LafargeHolcim Group, The 2030 Plan is our roadmap of how we intend to play our own part in addressing our planet's issues. As a leader in the construction materials industry, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to make a positive difference.

Building for Tomorrow
