Lafarge Cement Wapco Rewards Customers
For the fifth year running, leading Cement manufacturing company, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc, today held its annual Customers’Award Ceremony in Ishofin Estate, along Lagos- Abeokuta expressway, Ogun State.
The customers, from different part of the country were full of smiles as they beheld the many prizes rolled out by the 50 year old company to show appreciation to them . The prizes include a brown new 2010 Toyota Camry car, one 6 tons truck , one 3tons truck and other items.
Prizes are won in different categories such as :Highest National Volume buyer, 2nd Best National Volume buyer,3rd Best National Volume buyer, Highest Volume buyer per region, Highest Volume buyer in each territory, Loyalty Award ,Highest Volume Growth by Region, Corporate Patronage, Recognition Award for 70 top Distributors, and Top 3Frontline Contractors.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman, Board of Directors of Lafarge WAPCO , Chief Olusegun Osunkeye (OON) said that the award ceremony is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to constant appreciation of customers who have kept faith with the company, even in the face of economic slow down.
According to him, “today’s Customers’ Award Ceremony is not only a platform to reward our customers but rather, to build a mutually beneficial, long-term relationship with major distributors and also spur Lafarge WAPCO to increase its efforts to deliver even better products to the distributors on time”. While congratulating winners in different categories, Chief Olusegun Osunkeye solicited for the continuous support and patronage of the customers.
In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge WAPCO, Mr. Samy Abdelkader emphsised that the customer is important to the survival of the organisation.
According to Samy, ‘ year 2009 was a challenging year for cement industries in Nigeria, as we witnessed difficulties in the availability of gas and power which impacted negatively on our operations. We are happy to have been able to weather the storm and look foward to year 2010 with a lot of optimism. The horizon looks much better with the support of all of you, our esteemed customers. I use this opportunity to appeal to you all to continue patronizing Elephant Cement’

The award ceremony was also a good opprtunity for customers to have a feel of the company’s expansion project, Lakatabu , a new 2.2 million tonnes cement factory as they went on a facility tour of the Lakatabu site in Ewekoro Plant which when completed in 2011,will double the company’s volume in the market.
