Our recent donation of well-equipped libraries to our host communities in Mfamosing, Cross River state is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to fostering a love for learning and providing children with the resources they need to unlock their full potential.
These new libraries are more than just buildings; they are vibrant hubs of knowledge, imagination, and opportunity. Stocked with a diverse collection of books, from captivating storybooks to essential textbooks, they offer a welcoming space where children can explore new worlds, deepen their understanding, and cultivate a lifelong habit of reading. We firmly believe that a strong reading culture is fundamental to academic success and critical thinking, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
However, our dedication to education extends far beyond the provision of libraries. At Lafarge Africa, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are deeply rooted in uplifting our host communities in Ashaka, Gombe state, Mfamosing, Cross River state, Ewekoro and Sagamu, both in Ogun state - extending to other regions of the country; and education is a key pillar of this commitment. We understand that a holistic approach is necessary to create lasting impact, and therefore, we engage in a range of programs designed to support and enhance the educational landscape.

- Infrastructure Development: We actively invest in the renovation and construction of classroom blocks, school fences, and other essential facilities. By providing conducive learning environments, we aim to improve the overall educational experience for students and teachers alike.
- Scholarship and Bursary Awards: We offer scholarships and bursaries to deserving students from our host communities, supporting their academic journeys from primary to tertiary institutions. - "Back 2 School" Campaigns: We regularly organize "Back 2 School" campaigns, providing essential educational materials such as school uniforms, bags, sandals, and exercise books to thousands of pupils. These initiatives aim to boost school enrollment and address the challenges of out-of-school children.
- Vocational Skills Training and Apprenticeship Programs: Recognizing the importance of practical skills, we invest in vocational training schemes and technical apprenticeship programs. These initiatives equip young school leavers with valuable skills in various fields, such as mechanical engineering, fashion design, welding, and more, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods.
- Adopt-A-School Projects: Through partnerships, we adopt primary schools in rural hinterlands, covering tuition fees and levies, and providing school materials. This project also extends to early childhood care, development, and education (ECCDE) programs.
- Support for Teachers and Schools: We provide support to host community schools, including deploying NYSC corps members as teachers to improve the quality of learning. We also distribute thousands of exercise books and supply school desks.
